A word of welcome from the Headteacher - Mrs Sarah Bassitt

Whether you are just beginning to think about your child’s education or whether your child is already a part of the Killinghall Church of England Primary School community, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school. We hope that you will find our website interesting and informative. We are a small, very friendly school with approximately 110 pupils. We are currently under going a building expansion with two new classrooms, this means that we have places in each year group at the moment.

Our ethos is based upon our Christian Values; our hard working and enthusiastic staff team place the individual needs of the children at the centre of their thoughts and actions.

Our school is an outstanding church school that is rated by Ofsted as a good school, with outstanding behaviour and excellent Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural education - 2012. Our June 2017 Ofsted Inspection confirmed the we continue to be a GOOD school. The recent success of our school is based upon the strong partnerships that we have developed with pupils, parents, governors and the whole local community. Our School is a full strategic member of the Harrogate and Rural Teaching School Alliance - a group of local  schools who work collaboratively to improve outcomes for children.  As a school we believe in developing a self-improving, self-sustaining school system to ensure that all our stakeholders realise their potential, and in turn create exciting opportunities and positive results for our children.

We believe that our curriculum inspires and broadens children’s experiences and passion for learning. This belief drives what happens at our school. We are dedicated to ensuring that the children develop a real love of learning. We believe that we have a duty to help every child to become a rounded individual who is able to play their full part within an ever changing society. We were one of the schools involved in the local region in implementing the London Institute of Education and RSA 'Grand Curriculum Designs Programme'. Staff, parents, pupils, governors, and the Killinghall community were involved in the development of our curriculum.

Our approach to education is holistic; we are concerned for the whole child – mind, body and spirit. We offer an exciting and challenging education for all. SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural) is threaded through all curriculum areas, activities and collective worship; we actively engage pupils in understanding fundamental British values. We encourage the children in our school to engage with our Christian Values and live these every day.

We celebrate our pupils’ achievements in all areas and recognise that every individual has different strengths and talents. We encourage positive attitudes towards learning and behaviour, setting high aspirations and challenging every child to be the best that they can be.

The staff, governors and pupils are all proud to be a part of Killinghall Church of England Primary School and work hard to make it the special place it is. Visitors to school often remark on the caring and friendly atmosphere within it, and praise our children for their knowledge, manners and supportive attitude towards each other.
