Parent Information – Target Sheets Sept 2016

Due to the greater challenges of the new curriculum, with depth of understanding being vital in achieving age related expectations, along with the more difficult end of Key Stage testing we have changed the way we share targets with children and parents.

In the past children have been on a journey through the solar system moving from one planet to another. It is now more important that children, although continuing to work at their own pace, are challenged to gain greater depth of learning within their own age related targets.

Children will use target sheets in their books with teachers directing them to the targets they need to be working on in each lesson.

The targets are designed to support learning, teaching and setting ‘next steps’ using the programmes of study for the English and Mathematics Curriculum.

We are emailing home a single sheet of targets for your child’s year group. Staff will inform you via the class fortnightly newsletters what aspect the class is working on so that you are able to support them at home. Mental maths will be a real focus in lessons; any extra work you can do at home is much appreciated, especially around time tables and number work.

Further information will be given to you during the various parent sessions.

If you have any queries please speak to class teachers.
