Government Sports Funding

Please use the side bar links to find out about how our funding is used.

The government provides additional funding of £150 million per annum to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. We receive £8,000 plus an additional payment of £5 per pupil. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles

The impact of the funding needs to be evaluated carefully to ensure that provision is effective in raising engagement, enjoyment and standards in sport. In line with Oftsed here at Killinghall Governors systematically challenge school leaders to ensure effective deployment of staff and resources, monitoring the effective use of Sports funding.

At Killinghall we believe that all our PE/Sports curriculum :

  • helps engage the pupils to gain a sporting habit for life
  • creates opportunities for our children to experience a wide range of sporting opportunities
  • extends experiences beyond a 'normal PE curriculum'
  • nurtures and develop talent
  • engages parents in developing sporting links for their children outside school

We recently gained the Youth Sport Gold Award and the Sainsbury Games Gold Awrd.
