Phonics
L.O. To learn to read and write words using the new sounds this week.
Please watch the Read, Write, Inc videos on Youtube each day (please review the Useful Help Documents section of the unicorn area for a guide to use this). The videos are uploaded onto Youtube every day at 9:30. You should watch the speed sound lesson (either set 1 or set 2) then the accompanying spelling or word time video which will come on immediately after the speed sound video. Please follow the link
here to find the RWI Ruth Miskin page.
If your child is confident with all of the set 1 sounds then they can move onto the set 2 sounds lessons on the same Youtube page.
If your child has now completed set 2 phonics and is confident with these sounds then please move onto the 'Read and Hold a Sentence 1' videos where children will begin to put their phonics set 1 and 2 knowledge into practice with their writing. It might be useful to review some set 1 and 2 sounds from the flashcards before you try this activity. You can also watch the 'Red Words 1' videos too. There will be a new video each day and you can follow the same link as before to find these videos.
Literacy - I will teach this lesson on Tuesday at 2pm.
L.O. To write sentences about Chinese New Year.
This week we will be learning about Chinese New Year. We will read the story during the Monday morning zoom session, if you cannot make it or would like to read the story again you can see the powerpoint
here.
After you read the story I would like you to have a go writing some sentences about the story. Adults, here are some sentences you could suggest to your child to write if they are a bit stuck;
The rat pushed the cat into the water.
The dog had a bath.
The pig fell asleep.
The cat was last.
Remember to use your phonics knowledge and your sound cards to help your write the words. Please try to complete this work as independently as you can, I would like to see some of your own sounding out in your sentences.
Maths
L.O. To make pairs. To combine 2 groups.
This week we will continue with the Growing 6, 7, 8! topic. We will be learning about matching numbers in different ways, making pairs of objects, combining 2 groups of objects and playing an addition game.
