Wider Curriculum Remote Learning (w.c. 1/3/21)

22 Feb 2021

Hi Giants!

It's our final week of home learning so I hope you really enjoy these last activities :) Check out the 'Just for Fun' section as I think you'll like the extras for this week if you have any free time - bookmark designing and weather forecasting!

Changes this week: As we have Arabian Nights on Wednesday morning, I would suggest doing French on Wednesday afternoon instead of Wednesday morning. So that you have time, we won't have an RE/PSHE session this week - we'll use our afternoon Zoom session for an input for your Science tasks, and then you can do your French after that! :)

Enjoy your learning and SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!! laugh

Love Miss Daniel and Miss Richardson

Art (Monday afternoon)

LO: To know how impressionists used light for effect
Zoom input for this lesson Monday 1:15pm. On Zoom after our worship, we will look at how impressionist artists often paint the same scenes in different lighting, to create different effects. We'll discuss how the lighting affects our impression of the artwork, and then learn how we can use materials to show different types of lighting. Then, your task is to use these skills to practise recreating one scene in different types of light. Art Lesson - Impressionism and Light

Science (Wednesday afternoon)
Thank you to Mrs Parker for our exciting Science lessons!

LO: To use MRS GREN to say if something is living, dead or never alive
Zoom input for this lesson Wednesday 1:15pm. On Zoom, we will use this PowerPoint to remind ourselves about the 7 life processes (MRS GREN) that we learned last week. We'll also learn the difference between 'dead' and 'never alive', and practise using MRS GREN to decide if somehting is living, dead or never alive. Then, have a go at this activity:

Activity - Living, Dead or Never Alive
Collect (or think of) 4 different groups of objects you have in your house, e.g. pets, food, flowers, toys. Then, choose 3 different objects from your groups, e.g. a dog, an apple, a ball. Draw a picture of each object and record underneath how you know if it is living, dead or never alive. It would be good if you could choose one of each :)

Optional Extra - Life Processes Wordsearch

French (Wednesday afternoon)

* I have suggested doing French on Wednesday afternoon this week, as we have lots happening on Wednesday morning with the Arabian Nights show! I have not put in an RE/PSHE lesson for this week so you should have a bit more time in the afternoon than normal *

Then we are going to look at some weather forecasts for the UK and try to explain why some cities are warmer than others.  Geography Lesson - Where Is The Warmest Place in the UK?      Worksheet
