English
This week we will be consolidating our story writing skills. We would like you to use the picture 'The Clocktower' please see the attached document below:

  -The_Clocktower.pdf-

Once you have read the story starter we want you to answer the questions on page 2 titled Question time.

Next have a look at the sentence challenges - can you describe the picture using similies? Some example starters have been given for you but have a go at thinking of your own aswel.

Then have a look at the 'sick sentences' - these sentences need your help to get better.

Now have a go at continuing writing the next part of the story using the work you have done.

Science
Our topic this half term in Science is 'Rocks'.
We will begin by looking at differnt types of Rocks.

Please work through the Powerpoint and then have a go at the attached activity.

Powerpoint -  -Lesson Presentation Types of Rocks.ppt-

Activity -   -Activity Sheet Natural or Man-Made Rocks.pdf-
-Natural or Man-Made Rocks Picture Sheet.pdf-

Theme

Our topic this half term is 'Fountains Abbey and the dissolution of the Monasteries'.
We will begin with the focus question 'What is a Monastery?'

Here is a PP which includes information and the task to be completed.

This can be treated like a mini PLC. I have provided information for learning but you may wish to research into this more as it is very interesting! You can respond in a creative way or by simply writing a paragraph or two to answer 'What is a Monastery?' (More ideas on the powerpoint).

Picture news
This week Picture News focus is around Pets and how there was a huge increase in the amount of pets bought during the last lockdown and the impact that might have over the next 5 years.

Have a read through the attacehd document and have a go at the questions at the bottom of the resource.

If you would like to as an extra then have a go at writing a letter to the RSPCA using the following structure:

• Why are you writing?
• What do you like about their work?
• Tell them about your favourite pet and why you like it.
• Share any ideas, suggestions or hopes you have for the future.

Don't forget if you have any questions, need any support or just want to say hello then please contact us via email. We promise that we will reply as soon as we can.
Have a good week and stay safe!

Mrs Almack & Miss Galton
