This Week's Art
Mr Butler - 12 Jun 2020
Good morning everyone,
I hope you are all well. This half term we are going to continue to develop our confidence talking about and analysing (looking at) different works of art. I will continue to post a different work of art each week. Things to discuss include: What can you see in the art? Why do you think it is there? How do you think the artist created this? What do you like or dislike about the art?
This week's work of art is called 'Full Fathom Five' by Jackson Pollock
This is totally unlike any other painting we've looked at! Like Early Spring, it's very big. It is nearly 1.30m tall, taller than some of you! Not everyone likes this style of art (can you find out what that style is called, if you search for Jackson Pollock online, it is easy to find). But I love it! Maybe you could have a go at creating your own version. They are a lot of fun tIt is worth doing outside (if the weather gets better) because you need a lot of space. Get permission (and help) from a grown up too.
Can you find out the year it was made? Who will be the first person to email me the date?Well done to Isaac who correctly identified the date for 'Early Spring' (1072).
Bonus Question: The title 'Full Fathom Five' comes from a Wiliam Shapespeare play, can you tell me which one?
Take care and stay safe,
Mr Butler
