Week Beginning 5th January

04 Jan 2021

Hello there,
I hope you have all had a good Christmas and New Year. Here are the remote learning activities for this week. Please keep a look out on Teams. There will be opportunities for you to upload the work you have been doing and for em to give you feedback.

Maths:
This week, we are consolidating out times tables knowledge. We were getting really good at them at the end of the last term so hopefully this activity booklet will help you get even better! There are plenty of games and puzzles designed to practise your times tables for you to have a go at:
  -Times Tables Activity Booklet-
  -Times Tables Answer Booklet-
If you fancy an extra maths challenge, then have a go at the Multiplication Square Jigsaw challenge! Follow the link where you will find and explanation, downloadable jigsaw pieces and the solution. Best of luck!

English:
This week we are going to consolidate our story writing. We are going to use a picture called 'The Wave' to inspire our writing. See the link to the resources below:
The_Wave
First of all use the questions on 'Question time' to discuss the picture. Try to imagine what it would be like to be one of the people in the picture. Then have a go at improving the 'Sick Sentences' - think of all that wonderful sentence stacking you did before Christmas. Then you are ready to take the 'Sentence Challenge'. Can you remember what a simile is? Once you have completed that, you are then ready to write your own story. You can use the questions and story opener to help you if you wish, or you can write your own version. The choice is yours.
I would suggest doing the quetions and the sick sentences today; the sentence challenge on Wednesday and use Thursday and Friday for the story writing. Please upload any completed stories onto Teams (use the assignments page). I look forward to reading them.

History
This half term, our history topic is 'The Tudors'. To kick-start this topic, we are going to find out about the Tudors first. The timeline cards below are all jumbled up. Can you reorder them and create a Tudor Timeline of your very own?
-Tudor Timeline Ordering Activity
Have a look at the Tudor Monarchs power point below. Then can you choose a monarch that interests you and create your own mini PLC about that Monarch.
  -Tudor Monarchs
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Don't forget if you have any questions, need any support or just want to say hello then please contact me either via email or Teams. I promise that I will reply as soon as I can.
Have a good week and stay safe!
Mr Butler
