English and Maths Home Learning WC 11th January

08 Jan 2021

Hi Phoenix,

Hope you are well and that you all managed to have some fun out in the snow on Friday! You are all doing brilliantly with your learning and I am really proud with what I have seen so far on Teams. Don't forget if you are struggling to upload documents, just send me a quick message on the chat or ask your grown up to send me an email and I will try to help as quickly as possible.

I have added in the work below for English and maths. I will also be adding some extra challenges for both maths and English from this week so that you can continue with more learning like you're used to in school as well as some daily Sumdog challenges for spelling, maths and grammar.

As Mrs Bassitt has said, we are currently putting together a new timetable so that we can offer more teaching slots on Zoom and we all are investigating the best way to record videos to help your learning further.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs Foster smiley

Maths - Decimals

This week we are beginning to look at decimals. The first couple of sessions begin by recapping your previous learning around understanding the organisation of decimal numbers. You will then move on to multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. As well as the video links, flashback 4 and activities I have added a true or false question each day and some problem solving and reasoning activities if you would like some extra challenges. The problem solving and reasoning activities are meant to be for the whole unit so if you choose to do one please don't do too many in one go.

Problem Solving and Reasoning

English

For the next two weeks, you have the amazing Mrs Considine teaching you through her live lessons on her YouTube channel. She will work through a unit of sentence stacking focussing on the book, 'The Secret of Black Rock.' We will be following this in school and I for one cannot wait to see what Mrs C has in store for us! The live sessions run from 9.45-10.45 each morning but don't worry if you are unable to watch at those times as each session is available as a recording from the same YouTube channel.
