PHSE and RSE - updated December 2020

The main focus of Personal Social Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) in our school is to teach the fundamental building blocks for an awareness of how to be safe in our world and an understanding of how to live healthily. It is also about enabling children to make and maintain relationships with others, to understand about human emotions, and to feel good about themselves and the choices they make. This involves helping children to gain knowledge, develop skills and form positive beliefs and attitudes. We aim for children to develop the confidence to talk, listen and think about their own feelings and relationships, as well as promoting equality for all. We acknowledge that, in order for children to embrace the challenges of creating a happy and successful adult life, pupils need knowledge that will enable them to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships and to build their self-efficacy. We understand that high quality, age-appropriate teaching of these subjects can help prepare pupils to develop resilience, and to know how and when to ask for help throughout their lives.
