20th June 2022

This week we have a PLC homework.  In science, we have begun learning about life cycles and have already looked at how flowering plants reproduce. For this homework, I would like you to research and create a piece of work about the life cycle of a plant or animal of your choice.  You could make a poster, or perhaps a PowerPoint - try to show and talk about the different stages of your creatures life. Please hand in by Monday 11th July.

13th June 2022

This week we have  maths homework.  It can be found on SATs Companion and is called ‘Estimate and compare acute, obtuse and reflex angles’.  There is a video to watch alongside the activity if you think you may need the extra help.  This homework is due to be completed by Monday 20th June.

6th June 2022

This week, we have an English homework.  It can be found on SATs Companion and is called 'Identify and use subordinating conjunctions'.  We have looked at these in English lesson, and many of you have used them in your writing before.  There is a video to watch alongside the activity to remind you of what they are.  This homework is due to be completed by Monday 13th June.

23rd May 2022

It's a maths homework this week which can be found on SATs Companion.  For this activity, we are going to go back to look at some work we did before Christmas (but talked about in class briefly last week) - square and cube numbers. There is a video to watch to remind you how to calculate these.  I would reccomend that you have a piece of paper to do workings out on, as you may need to use the short multiplication to calculate some of the cube numbers. The activity is called 'Use square numbers and cube numbers'. This homework is due to be completed by Monday 6th June.

16th May 2022

This week, we have an English homework. This activity has been set on SATs Companion for you and will give you some practice in using colons.  The task is called 'Use colons to introduce lists'.  If there are other activities showing on your account, please don't do these, just concentrate on this one for the homeowork.  This is due to be completed by Monday 23rd May.

9th May 2022

This half term in history, we are learning about the Industrial Revolution, with  a focus on Railways.  I would like you to research an area of interest from this historical period to base your PLC.  You could investigate other aspects of the Industrial Revolution, or focus on steam engines. You can present it in any way you choose. If you create something on a laptop or iPad, it can be emailed to me, rather than printed off and brought in. I'm looking forward to see what you come up with!  This homework is due in on the 6th June (after the holidays).

3rd May 2022

This week's homework is a maths challenge and can be found on SATs companion.  It focusses on work we have been doing recently in class and is called 'Find equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages'.

If you have any problems, let me know. Mr Thackray

We recently looked at modal verbs during our sentence stacking lessons and learnt how they can be used to indicate how likely something is to happen.  I have attached a short activiy sheet for this homework for you to try out. Hopefully we will be able to include modal verbs in our upcoming indendednt writing activities.  You can print off the sheet and complete it, but don't worry if you don't have access to a printer, simply write your answers on a piece of paper instead.

    26 Sep 2021

This week's homework is a PLC - You have 3 weeks to complete this activity.
Please hand in by Monday 18th October.

In history this half term, we are learning about the time period covering the Stone Age to the Iron Age.  In the next few weeks we will continue our journey through the Stone Age, looking at the Mesolithic and Neolithic eras, before investigating the Bronze Age.  Towards the end of the Neolithic and the start of the Bronze Age, people started to build monuments, with Stonehenge probably being the most famous.  For this PLC, I would like you to research Stonehenge and present it in any way you choose - it could be writing a fact file, or making a PowerPoint presentation   or even a making a model.  Please don't make your PLC too big as it is then difficult to store and not easy to display.  If you create something on a laptop or iPad, it can be emailed to me, rather than printed off and brought in.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you create!

Also, we are going to be creating portraits of people who are our role-models for our lockers.  Please have a think about who your role-model is.  It could be someone famous or someone you know.  Think about how they inspire you.  If you can bring a picture so that you can sketch their portrait, that would be great!
