Homework Summer 2022

20th June 2022 - Personalised Learning Challenge
This half term in geograhy we are learning all about Killinghall, I would like you to research an area of interest from this topc to base your PLC on and present it in any way you choose. If you create something on a laptop or iPad, it can be emailed to me, rather than printed off and brought in. You have three weeks to complete this activity - This is due to be completed by Monday 11th July

13th June 2022 - Maths

This week, we have an Maths homework. This activity is on Mirodo Education (https://app.mirodoeducation.com) in the practice section. Please make sure you click on Maths and find the 'fractions, decimals and percentages' link down the left hand side. I would like the children to have a go at the 'Find, write and count fractions' section. This will consolidate the learning we have been doing in class. You will find your child's login details in the front of their home school record.   This is due to be completed by Monday 20th May.

6th June 2022 - English

This week, we have an English homework. This activity is on Mirodo Education (https://app.mirodoeducation.com) in the practice section. Please make sure you click on English and find the vocabulary link down the left hand side. There are 3 activities for the children to have a go at titled prefixes, suffixes and word families. You will find your child's login details in the front of their home school record.   This is due to be completed by Monday 13th May.

23rd May 2022 - Maths

It's a maths homework this week which can be found on Sumdog. This will help the children to develop their knowledge of fractions. The challenge will show on the children's account when they have finished the game they are currently playing. This homework is due to be completed by Monday 6th June.

16th May 2022 - English

This week, we have an English homework. This week’s focus is spelling. The words that are for the children to have a go at are all words that they cannot sound out but we expect them to be able to read and spell in year 3.  This is due to be completed by Monday 23rd May.

9th May 2022 - Personalised Learning Challenge

This half term in Science, our topic is animals including humans with a focus on nutrition.  I would like you to design a balanced meal/meals for an individual for one day, for your PLC. You can present it in any way you choose. If you create something on a laptop or iPad, it can be emailed to Mrs Almack & Mrs Moss, rather than printed off and brought in. I'm looking forward to see what you come up with!  This homework is due in on the 6th June (after the holidays).

 

3rd May 2022 - Maths

This week's maths homework is a measurement challenge on Sumdog. This will help the children to develop their knowledge of adding and subtracting lengths. 
The challenge will start on Tuesday 3rd May at 8am and finish the following Monday (9th May at 8am). The challenge will show on the children's account when they have finished the game they are currently playing.

    Hello Pegasus,

    I hope you are all well and managed to have a nice break. I have included the learning below for Monday and Tuesday - there is nothing that NEEDS to be printed if you don't have a printer at home. Please bring all of your learning into school when we are back so that you can stick them into your books. If you have any questions please contact me.

    Monday:
    9.00am - Short Zoom with Mrs Almack. In this session we will have a quick catch up and I can try to answer any questions you have about the independent work fo today. I will also intoduce the Maths lesson on dividing 2 digits by 1 digit. Once the zoom has finished please watch the following video and then complete the worksheet - this does not need to be printed, please answer the questions onpaper as we would normally in class.

    10.25am - Collective Worship on Zoom with Mrs Bassitt - this link has been sent to your parents.

    11am - English Zoom with Mrs Almack. This will be a class novel session (Secrets of a Sun King by emma Carroll). Please do not worry if you do not have access to a copy of the text I will have this for you to view during the zoom session. I will be reading chapter 7 and our focus for the session will be retrieving information from what is read. All you will need is a piece of paper and a pencil to answer the questions. 

    1.40pm - Swimming at the Hydro. I will meet you at the Hydro at 1.40pm for the swimming lesson. Please collect your child afterwards at 2.50pm.

    Tuesday:
    9.00am - Short Zoom with Mrs Almack. This session will give you a chance to let me know how you got on with the tasks from yesterday. I will also introduce the Maths lesson again.     11am - English Zoom with Mrs Almack - Today we will be focusing our lesson on pronouns. I have put some documents below but you do not need to print these. Please make sure you have a piece of paper and a pencil for this session. I will display everything else on the screen that you will need.

    1.15pm - Music Zoom with Mrs Linfoot (This is the same zoom link as for sessions with Mrs Almack) You will be composing and performing rhythms to music from the film 'Enchanto'. You will also be using your musical element words to describe pieces of music. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil for this session.

    2.30pm - PE - As we would normaly have our Harrogate Town session I want you to make sure you continue to keep active. I have attached a link to the Joe Wicks lockdown PE sessions that he did during the first lockdown. I would like you to have a go at this, alternatively you can complete another type of activity or excercise. It would be great if you could share some of the physical activities that you choose to complete.

    In school, you have enjoyed learning about Ancient Egyptians.

    For your PLC I would like you to research and explore an area of interest linked to our learning.

    You could create a presentation about an Ancient Egyptian God, you might design your own Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs code or you may want to make your own clothing. Be creative! I'm looking forward to see what you all come up with!

  • Personalised Learning Challenge (PLC) W/C 15th December

    You will have 3 weeks to complete this PLC.
    This is due in by 11th December.

    In science, we have been talking about sources of light that can be dangerous for our eyesight. We have also looked at opaque, translucent and transparent materials. Using this knowledge, we would likeyou to design a pair of sunglasses that will protect your eyes against UV light.

    Please be reminded, you should still not look directly at the sun when wearing glasses.

  • WC 8th November 2021 - Maths homework

    This week, Sumdog are running a national competition as part of 'Maths Week England'.
    The contest runs until Friday 11th November. 
    Your homework this week is to enter the competition.
    Your scores are logged each time you play and because all the questions are personalised everyone has an equal chance of playing and getting onto the leader board.
    There is also a trophy for the winning class!

    This week's homework is a PLC - You have 3 weeks to complete this activity.
    Please hand in by Monday 18th October.

    In history this half term, we are learning about the time period covering the Stone Age to the Iron Age. This week, we will take a closer look at Stonehenge. For your PLC I would like you to recreate it! A small amount of research may be helpful, and you can recreate using things like lego, blocks, or even biscuits! Please take a photo of your creation and email this to me.

    I'm really looking forward to seeing what you create!

    Also, we are going to be creating portraits of people who are our role-models for our classroom.  Please have a think about who your role-model is.  It could be someone famous or someone you know.  Think about how they inspire you.  If you can bring a picture so that you can sketch their portrait, that would be great!

    This weeks homework is Maths which is due in no later than Monday 27th September.
    1 - Please complete the challenge that has been set for you on 'SUMDOG'. Log ins will be handed out on Monday 20th September.
    2 - Continuing on with our learning and understanding the concept of 100, please gather 100 items and send a photo to your teacher. eg 100 straws, 100 socks, 100 pieces of pasta. Some of these photos will go on our maths display in school so please feel free to be creative.
