School Poem
This poem is shared with the children by the headteacher on a regular basis as it says everything that the school is about. When the staff and children discussed reviewing the vision statement the children requested that the school adopt 'Mrs Bassitt's poem' as the school poem. It now appears around the school and is regularly shared as part of learning.
IF
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win but think you can't,
It's almost certain that you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will.
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you are out classed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of your-self before
You can ever win the prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster one.
But sooner or later, the one who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.
