Our Long Term Plans
Our long term curriculum plans were developed by collaboratively by ourselves in 2023-24. Our plans are based on an educational model that organises learning in a spiral sequence to allow children to re-visit concepts; helping children develop a deeper understanding of subject and retain longer term.
-
Concept
Our curriculum is based on the idea that learning is a continuous process, and that children can deepen their understanding of a topic by revisiting it multiple times.
-
Sequence
The whole school starts with a geography-based focus, starting local in our lower years and going further afield as the children get older. This is followed by a history focus which is closely linked to the place we have just studied. For example, Year 5 will learn about the European country of Italy and then go on to study Romans.
-
Benefits
Our curriculum helps children is designed to develop a holistic understanding of the subject matter, and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We recognise our local context and therefore look for ways to learn about a diverse range of people and places.
