Pupil Voice

49

At the heart of our school's vision, echoing the words of Jesus, lies a profound commitment to nurturing not just academic minds but resilient spirits, and this journey is incomplete without honoring the importance of pupil voice. We believe that each child, like a unique ray of light, possesses a voice that deserves to be heard and valued. In alignment with our vision, "We strive, we share, we shine," we recognize that empowering our students to express their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations is integral to fostering a community of mutual respect and understanding. Through active engagement with pupil voice, we aim to provide a platform for our young learners to contribute to the vibrant tapestry of our school's culture, allowing their perspectives to shine forth and collectively illuminate the path to a brighter, more inclusive future.

Leading Lights

The Leading Lights are a group of four Y6 pupils who form the Pupil Leadership Team. They meet with Mrs Besharati every fortnight to discuss their action plan around school improvement.

'We have been working on improving our school environment and have asked other children what they think'

'We model The Killinghall Way and make sure that others do this by setting a good example'

Collective Worship

Our Collective Worship committee are responsible for setting up collective worship. They sometimes lead collective worship and help in our Friday Praise. They look at ways to improve collective worship. Last year, they created our school prayer and contributed to our policy.

Eco Warriors

Our Eco Warriors are a group of children from Year 1 to Year 6 who meet every half term to discuss how we can positively make a difference to the environment. They lead assemblies to educate children as well as arrange projects in school such as new recycling bins, posters to remind people about wasting electricity. They create a climate change action plan and review this each half term.

House Captains

We have four houses in our school. These are named after precious stones that shine - like our school vision!

Play Leaders

Play Leaders help set up games at break times and organise different activities. They also come up with new ideas for break times.

School Council

Our School Council is led by Miss Ramsey and is made up of children from Year 1 to Year 6. The children meet and discuss how to improve our school as well as making a positive difference outside of school such as the work for our chosen charity.
