The government provides additional funding, each year, to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles

The impact of the funding needs to be evaluated carefully to ensure that provision is effective in raising engagement, enjoyment and standards in sport. In line with Oftsed, here at Killinghall Governors systematically challenge school leaders to ensure effective deployment of staff and resources, monitoring the effective use of Sports funding.
