At Killinghall C.E. Primary School, our dedicated, experienced and passionate staff work collaboratively to ensure that we provide the best possible education that we can offer. As a team, we strive to make learning engaging for everyone, and to deliver an enriched, inspiring curriculum that supports each child’s holistic journey – spiritually, morally, socially, physically, emotionally and academically.
Our curriculum is designed to recognise and progress children’s prior learning, provide experiential learning experiences, allow the children to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers. Every learner has the chance to progress in every lesson. Our Christian Values of love, trust and justice underpin our School Vision and are therefore embedded within our broad, balanced, inclusive curriculum.
We promote a culture that enables our children to know they are of immense worth. We believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative time in our lives, where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge. Therefore, our curriculum is designed to ignite the spark of curiosity, creativity and individuality. The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values. To aid this, careful communication and feedback is regular and valuable in every subject.
We use Learning Powers to promote positive attitudes to learning which reflect the values and skills needed to promote responsibility for learning and future success. Children have the opportunity to share and support one another’s learning by developing Learning Powers such as collaboration and teamwork. We believe that a ‘growth mindset’ towards our learning and development is essential; a belief that hard work and effort leads to success. We have clear and consistent methods for celebrating success, and therefore, every child is celebrated as a unique individual. We celebrate and welcome differences within our school community.
Through our passion for learning and a culture of possibility, the children at Killinghall shine by achieving their full potential. Our pupils leave us ready to make positive contributions and explore their world further in the next phase of their lives.
