Our Vision
Through the light of Jesus, we strive, we share, we shine.
Jesus said 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’
John 8:12
Our school vision is anchored in the profound words of Jesus, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life”. We celebrate Jesus as the Light of the World— illuminating a path of discovery for our children, cultivating not only knowledgeable minds but confident, caring and resilient spirits. We want to nurture our children so that they flourish into a source of light, hope, and joy.
Our vision, "We strive, we share, we shine," becomes a beacon statement guiding our children.
We Strive
Inspired by the promise of eternal light, we strive to cultivate a growth mindset in our pupils, recognising that intelligence and abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work.
We Share
Through shared experiences, the warmth of community, and a commitment to mutual support, we foster an environment where each child, like a radiant light, contributes to dispelling the darkness in the world and speaks out for social justice. Just as Jesus was a light of life at a young age, our children are encouraged to be lights of hope and joy, sharing positive words and actions to make a difference in our world.
We Shine
Together, we embark on a journey where the light within each child is ignited through our inspiring curriculum and opportunities we offer. We encourage children to be the best version of themselves and recognise their individual ‘light’ that is nurtured and celebrated. Supporting spiritual growth for our children, wherever they are on their faith journey, is central to our community life.
Our core school values of love, trust and justice weave together with our vision and are embodied in our nurture and encouragement for all.
Theological Rooting of our Vision
As a Church of England school, the school mirrors the church’s vision for an education which promotes ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10). Its core purpose is to educate the whole child; uniting excellence and academic rigour with spiritual, social, moral and cultural development - enabling every child to flourish.
Jesus said 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ (John 8:12) When Jesus said that he was the light of the world, he was saying that there is a light that is more important than any light that we see with our eyes. When we open our hearts to Jesus, he shines his light in us so that we can see God at work in our lives and he can show us the way.
Jesus recognised that there is darkness in the world. Each day, we have to ensure we teach our children against dangers. Jesus, as the beacon of light, inspires us how we can be positive global citizens sharing a deep understanding and respect for all of God’s children.
Jesus also taught that we can be light! When we trust Jesus, and when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we become like lights to other people.
