Our Team
Miss White is the Year 2 Class Teacher, with Mrs Linfoot teaching the children every Friday. Miss Jackson and Miss Wrightson are our wonderful teaching assistants. Get to know our faces below!
A Typical Day
The school day starts at 8.45am and children independently complete a short morning task linked to English or Maths. Our mornings generally focus on Spelling, Writing and Maths, and our Wider Curriculum is planned for an afternoon. The children have opportunities for outdoor play, milk and snack each day. Cool Milk subscriptions for children aged 5+ can be set up via school office.
Autumn Term 2024
What a fantastic autumn term we had! As the leaves turned golden and the air grew crisper, Year 2 embarked on a term filled with learning and excitement. It has been a wonderful time for growth, curiosity, and creativity.
The children have developed their reading and writing skills through engaging stories, while in Maths, they explored place value, addition and subtraction and shape. Our Science lessons revolved around animals and their needs for survival, making the natural world a perfect theme for autumn. This term wasn’t just about classroom learning—it was also packed with enrichment opportunities. A highlight being a trip to the Yorkshire Agricultural Society for Apple Day. This hands-on experience helped the children learn about local produce, farming, and the changing seasons in a fun, interactive way - hopefully you saw us in the newspaper! As December approached, the excitement built for the Christmas Nativity. From learning lines to singing festive songs, preparing for this performance fostered teamwork, confidence, and a lot of joy.
The children have also built on their social and emotional skills by working together, sharing ideas, and celebrating their achievements. Year 2’s autumn term has been a magical mix of education and exploration, setting the scene for a love of learning. Whether it’s solving a tricky Dong Nao Jin Maths problem, discovering how apples grow, or taking a bow in the Nativity play, every child has shone. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring. Please enjoy the gallery of our learning so far.
